Surveillance Essentials

Surveillance is one of the most common services people think of when private investigation comes to mind.  It should come as no surprise that the Crossroads Investigations surveillance team is very busy!

Surveillance is best used when there is a specific place and time where and when you believe the subject may be engaging in behavior you want observed and reported:

—In infidelity/adultery cases, a private investigator might be tasked to follow someone from work, at a happy hour, or during a business trip at a hotel.

—For insurance defense, worker’s compensation fraud, or personal injury fraud, surveillance might be assigned when the subject is going to a known doctor’s appointment.

—For employment non-compete violations, we may follow someone in the morning to see where they go to work.

—For child custody cases, surveillance can be used to observe the parent while they have the child.

When considering hiring a private investigator to follow someone, ask the following questions:

—Is the private investigator licensed and insured?

—Is travel time and report writing included in the fee, or is it an extra charge?

—Does the private investigation agency have a dedicated surveillance coordinator to ensure you are kept informed during the surveillance operation?

—What is the experience of the surveillance team?

—What is the reputation of the private investigation company?
