Employee & Tenant Screening Background Reports
**YOU CAN ORDER A REPORT USING THE FORM AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE**
Hiring a new employee, approving a tenant, bringing in a contractor, or selecting a nanny or caregiver requires trust. Before you make that decision, it is important to verify who the person is, review relevant records, and identify potential red flags that could create risk for your business, property, family, or finances.
Crossroads Investigations offers easy, low-cost employee and tenant screening background reports for employers, landlords, property owners, property managers, families, and businesses throughout Miami, Fort Lauderdale, South Florida, and nationwide.
Our online background screening system allows you to request a report, submit the candidate’s name and email address, select the appropriate searches, and make payment. The candidate then receives an email from Crossroads Investigations requesting the information and consent needed to complete the background check.

Why Background Screening Matters
A resume, rental application, interview, or personal recommendation only tells part of the story. Employers and landlords are often expected to make important decisions based on limited information. A professional background screening report can help confirm identity, uncover relevant records, and reduce risk before a final decision is made.
Employee background checks and tenant background checks may help identify:
- Criminal history
- Identity discrepancies
- Aliases or prior names
- County-level criminal records
- Federal criminal records
- Sex offender registry records
- Bankruptcies
- Liens and judgments
- Eviction history
- Driving record issues
- Employment verification concerns
- Social media red flags
For employers, this can help protect your business, employees, clients, and reputation. For landlords and property managers, proper tenant screening can help reduce the risk of unpaid rent, property damage, evictions, and legal disputes.
Employee Background Checks for Employers
Crossroads Investigations provides employee background check services for businesses that need reliable screening before hiring. Whether you are hiring one employee or screening candidates regularly, our reports can help you make more informed employment decisions.
Employee background checks are commonly used for:
- Office employees
- Managers and executives
- Remote workers
- Bookkeepers and financial employees
- Sales representatives
- Drivers
- Security-sensitive positions
- Contractors
- Household employees
- Nannies and caregivers
Hiring the wrong person can create serious problems. Theft, fraud, workplace violence, false credentials, poor judgment, and undisclosed criminal history can all expose a company to unnecessary risk. A professional pre-employment background check adds an important layer of protection before you bring someone into your organization.
Tenant Screening Background Checks for Landlords
Landlords, property managers, and real estate investors use tenant screening reports to help evaluate rental applicants before approving a lease. A strong tenant screening process can help determine whether an applicant has a history that may create financial or property-related concerns.
Tenant background screening may include:
- Identity verification
- Criminal background searches
- Nationwide eviction search
- Credit report
- Bankruptcies, liens, and judgments
- Address history
- Civil records when requested
Tenant screening is especially important in competitive rental markets such as Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Aventura, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, and throughout South Florida. A rental application may look fine on its face, but public records and credit-related information can provide a more complete picture before you hand over the keys.
Nanny, Caregiver & Household Employee Background Checks
When someone will be working in your home or caring for a loved one, background screening becomes even more important. Families often request background checks for nannies, babysitters, elder caregivers, housekeepers, personal assistants, drivers, and other household employees.
These screenings may help identify:
- Criminal history
- Alias records
- Sex offender registry records
- Driving record concerns
- Identity inconsistencies
- Prior civil records
- Social media concerns
- Employment verification issues
Families deserve peace of mind before allowing someone into their home or trusting them with children, elderly relatives, or vulnerable family members.
What Is Included in the Basic Background Report?
Our basic $75 report is designed to provide a strong starting point for employee and tenant screening.
The Social Security Number trace can help identify names, aliases, and address history associated with the candidate. The national criminal database search provides broad criminal record coverage across many jurisdictions. The county criminal search helps review records at the county level, where many criminal cases are filed. The federal district criminal search checks for federal-level criminal cases.
The global search helps identify records in major watchlists and databases, including international and federal sources, wanted lists, and sex offender registry information.
This combination gives employers and landlords a cost-effective way to screen candidates while allowing optional add-ons when a deeper review is needed.
Why County Criminal Searches Are Important
Many people assume that a national criminal database search is enough. In reality, national database searches can be useful, but they are not always complete, current, or reportable without verification.
County criminal searches are important because many criminal cases are handled at the county level. Searching the counties where a candidate has lived during the past seven years can help provide a more complete criminal background check.
Our basic report includes one county criminal search. Additional counties are $20 each. If you want a more comprehensive search, ask the candidate how many counties they have lived in during the past seven years.
Important note: Our national criminal search includes a nationwide database search and a direct county search in the county where the candidate currently resides. If a possible record is found in the nationwide database search, a county researcher may be required to verify that the record belongs to the applicant and not someone with the same name or date of birth. Database information is not reportable until it is properly verified. Sending a researcher may involve an additional cost, which varies by jurisdiction.
Credit Reports for Employment and Tenant Screening
Credit reports can be useful when evaluating certain applicants, especially for tenant screening or positions involving money, financial responsibility, bookkeeping, accounting, business finances, or access to sensitive financial information.
A credit report may help identify:
- Payment history concerns
- Debt patterns
- Collection accounts
- Financial instability
- Potential risk indicators
Credit reports should be requested only when appropriate and legally permissible. The candidate must provide consent before the report can be completed.
Bankruptcies, Liens & Judgments
Bankruptcy, lien, and judgment searches can provide useful information about a candidate’s financial history. These records may be relevant for tenant screening, financial positions, executive roles, business-related hiring, or other situations where financial responsibility is important.
This add-on may identify:
- Bankruptcy filings
- Civil judgments
- Tax liens
- Financial disputes
- Court-ordered debts
A bankruptcy or judgment does not automatically mean someone should be rejected. However, it may provide important context when evaluating risk.
Eviction Searches for Tenant Screening
Eviction history is one of the most important screening tools for landlords and property managers. Prior evictions may indicate a history of unpaid rent, lease violations, property disputes, or other landlord-tenant problems.
Our nationwide eviction search is available as an optional add-on for tenant screening purposes only.
Eviction searches may help identify:
- Prior eviction filings
- Landlord-tenant disputes
- Possession actions
- Rental history concerns
- Potential risk before lease approval
Driving Record Checks
Driving record checks may be important when a candidate will operate a vehicle for work or transport passengers, clients, children, elderly relatives, goods, or company property.
Driving record searches may help identify:
- Traffic violations
- License status concerns
- DUI-related issues
- Suspensions
- Accident-related records where available
Employers commonly request driving records for delivery drivers, sales employees, field personnel, caregivers, household drivers, and employees who may use a company vehicle.
Employment Verification
Employment verification can help confirm whether a candidate’s stated work history is accurate. Our employment verification add-on covers the candidate’s immediate past employment only.
Employment verification may help confirm:
- Prior employer
- Dates of employment
- Position held
- Potential discrepancies in the candidate’s application
False employment history is more common than many employers realize. Verifying prior employment can help identify inconsistencies before a hiring decision is finalized.
FCRA-Compliant Social Media Reports
Social media can reveal public behavior that may not appear in a traditional background check. For employers, it is important that social media screening be handled properly and in a compliant manner.
Our FCRA-compliant social media report is designed to help identify relevant online risk indicators while avoiding improper or discriminatory use of protected information.
Social media screening may identify public content involving:
- Threatening behavior
- Violence-related concerns
- Illegal activity
- Harassment
- Workplace safety concerns
- Fraud indicators
- Reputation concerns
